As
Mayor of Ironton, it is my pleasure to welcome you to
our website, and invite you on a virtual tour of our
city. Ironton was founded in 1849 by John Campbell along
the banks of the Ohio River, and today is recognized
as Ohio's southernmost city and the seat of Lawrence
County.

with strong moral beliefs and a willingness to help
those willing to help themselves. With the number of
non-profit organizations that assist the City, we are
committed to seeing Ironton restored to its former glory.
Ironton is also known for its rich heritage in sports.
It houses one of the original professional football
stadiums, “Tank’s Memorial”. This facility was built
in 1926 and was home of the famous Ironton Tanks. The
stadium is the current home to the Ironton Fighting
Tigers.
Centrally
located within the United States, Ironton has the unique
advantage of being within a day's drive of 80 percent
of the nation's population. Boasting private and public
schools, a four-year accredited university and vocational
training, Ironton provides the instructions necessary
to prepare a ready workforce.
The spirit of our community and its citizens exemplifies
the quality of life that can be found within Ironton.
Whether strolling through one of the wonderful neighborhoods
that contribute to Ironton's historic charm, boating
along the Ohio River, or hiking through Wayne National
Forest, you'll see why Ironton is such a great place
to be!
